Where Have I Been, Why I deleted Social Media
So, I haven’t posted on here in a while. I have been building businesses, well one constantly evolving business. I opened a shop, well a stall in Liverpool’s Red Brick Hangar. We had it open for about four months but due to low footfall and increasing rents we eventually closed it. I proved an excellent platform to learn and understand shop and stock management, customers and money but i wouldn’t advise it off the bat as it is expensive.
While building/running the shop I was using amazon FBA to sell the dog beds I had made by a factory in China. Amazon proved to be very difficult for a sole trader, small business to work in. I plan to write up a detailed review of my experience of Amazon FBA and how expensive it was/a rip off as Amazon prefers big established businesses who pay huge rates. I might as well do the same with the shop and explain our results and failures in detail.
Currently we are running our business on eBay, this has proved a success and we are now adding to our inventory and expanding into clothing. eBay is a very good platform for someone new to business as it is extremely flexible, it has simple algorithms which work with pure effort. If you’re struggling, new and/or desperate to learn business fundamentals e.g: cash-flow, bookkeeping, inventory, stock management and marketing then consider eBay. Simply sell a few things in your house, see what does the best/earns the most and go source some more. You’ll lean a lot.
I have also resorted to removing all unnecessary apps from my phone and deleting/abandoning all social media. This s to ensure my concentration. Since I’ve done so I’ve become a lot more productive. My phone now has merely a handful of apps and the ones i waste most time on are eBooks (I spent my early morning blasting through a book on Jacob Fugger who was the richest man in modern history (modern equivalent estimated wealth would be $400 billion). I’m looking forward to writing a short bio for this site.
So all in all; a year or so later, I believe I have vastly evolved as a business person. I aim now to write here morn, even as just therapy and as a platform to experiment with a few extra curricula business projects.
